On winning one of the leading golf championships in the world, the former caddy of Tiger Woods said it was the highlight of his caddying career – a stab in the back for Woods some would say.
Steve Williams, who was Woods’ caddy since 1999, made the comment on celebrating Adam Scott’s victory in August at the WGC-International Bridgestone.
It made bleak listening for Adam Scott’s win as it overshadowed much of what the winner had to say.
The advice coming from this is to be a gracious loser on UK Golf holidays with your golfing partners. Don’t be bitter, you just come out looking worse for it. Even less tell the press how you were sacked, by text, according to press accounts of Williams.
Williams states Woods became unhappy when he asked to caddy for Scott at the US Open when Woods was suffering with a knee injury.
However, Woods has told the United States media he did tell Williams face-to-face in a “nice conversation”, according to reports.
Golf hotel deals among golfers should facilitate play amicably or it overshadows the real meaning behind this gentleman’s sport.
Williams told the press that his win with Scott was his 145th in his professional career and has caddied for him at major contests, such as the British Open, AT&T National, US Open and now Bridgestone.
Williams, who lives in New Zealand reportedly said the Bridgestone win was a fun things and the greatest week of his life caddying, which he added he sincerely meant.
